A day at Muzhappilangad

Kerala is filled with beaches. So it's not unlikely to see beaches bustling with people at any time of the day. Especially for the people of Kannur, beaches are a part and parcel of our lives. But Muzhappilangad is different in the sense it's the longest drive-in beach in Asia.

I visited that place with my better half and it was really time well spent. The site is located between Kannur-Thalassery and takes a detour from the highway (NH-66) for around a km. As you enter you will be greeted by a local giving out tickets so that you could drive on the beach. The ticket costs 40 for cars and 20 for bikes but it was money well spent. If you wanna walk it’s free, but hey why would you when you can drive?

As soon as you enter you will be amazed to see bikes and cars running wildly across the length of the beach which is around 3.4 km. The place is filled with youngsters doing all kinds of stunts on their bikes and families practicing driving in cars. It’s a place where husbands relax while their wives drive without fear. Lol. Afternoons are best if you want the place to yourself. By 4 people start coming in for leisure or evening walks etc.
