Are we really making progress?

I watched this movie — Train to Busan while talking to my friend over WhatsApp. My friend is fighting a child custody battle which started last year. To the reader it might feel like the battle is over, but it is far from it.

The movie showed a father who is not able to spend time with his daughter due to his work life imbalance. And how because of that the daughter wants to be go and live with her mother. The mother was shown screaming at this guy to bring the daughter to her. He tried buying the child gifts only to realise that he had gifted her the same thing last year on her birthday as well. Disappointed he gets on a train with the daughter and decides to do what makes his daughter happy.

Enroute, all the zombie things happen, and in the end, the father also gets infected by the virus. There was this scene in the end where the child tells the father to stay with her because he did everything he could to protect her. The guy, even though he was infected, was crying with happiness that his daughter finally wanted to be with him.

The moral is that countless parents are separated from their children out there today. They are fighting battles in court and outside just for a glimpse of their children. For 6 days a week they live with the memories of their child, and on the 7th day get a couple of hours with their children.
