The short answer — it is fun!

The long answer is Travelling brings out the real you. Since childhood, we have always been around people, family, friends etc. So we have always had a comfort zone. Now most of us would disagree saying that they have always done things on their own. But the fact is you always knew there was something to fall back upon.

With Solo Travelling, you realise you are alone. You can trust no one, plus you have to make the most of it. The plans have to be perfect, the bookings have to be exact, and the knowledge has to be up to date. The margin of error has to be very low so that you meet your plans.

Controlled Fun

Say, for example, you are not so much of a drinker, but once you start drinking, you give away. At that moment, you need a friend beside you who can carry you to your bedroom if something goes wrong. But with Solo travel, it is a hard stop after two drinks because who knows who will carry you to where.

Discipline

Let us take another example, your phone runs out of charge. And you have no way to contact someone. If you had a friend you could use his phone but you don’t have one. So you have to ask n number of people before you get a phone since most of them won’t trust a stranger with a phone. So you need a power bank with you always. Plus, you need the discipline to keep them fully charged. You can’t have drinks and forget to charge them. You will end up missing your bus the next day.

Plan B

Let us say you booked a train and once you reach the station you find out the train is cancelled or not on time or has changed the route. What do you do when you have another connecting train to catch? Well, you need a plan B always.

So why do it? Well, exactly for the reasons mentioned above. Solo Travelling clears your mind. You meet new people — good and bad. You learn from them. You learn about your own body. How much it can stretch itself during trekking. Or how well you can manage your diet before having a bad stomach. Or how good you are with your finances that you empty your savings account.

Initially, it is tough. You feel like giving up with every step. But once you reach back and you look at those photos and think about how many experiences and stories you have to tell others, there is no stopping you anymore.

So prepare for that journey of life. Life is too short to be sitting at home. You have to be out there mate. Who knows maybe the writer and the reader might cross paths someday.
